On ASUS phones, open Settings > Storage to see what fills the phone, clear duplicates with Mobile Manager and empty Google Photos's Trash afterwards. Free up space on a ASUS phone
- Check what is using space. Open Settings > Storage on the ASUS phone.
- Clear duplicates and junk. Use Mobile Manager (Settings > Advanced > Mobile Manager) or Files by Google's Clean tab to remove duplicate files and memes.
- Remove backed-up copies. In Google Photos, tap your profile picture, then Free up space, if your photos are backed up.
- Empty the trash. Open Google Photos > Collections > Trash and empty it; space returns only then.
Where is storage on a ASUS phone?
- Android 11 and later (ZenUI): Settings > Storage
ASUS phones run ZenUI (near-stock Android). The storage screen lists apps, images, videos and system files; images and videos are usually the part you can safely shrink.
Where do deleted photos go on ASUS phones?
Google Photos keeps deleted items in Trash for 30 days: Google Photos > Collections > Trash. ASUS's Zenfone 10 e-manual describes deleting from the ASUS Gallery app but documents no recycle bin for it. Google's help page says items deleted in Google Photos stay in Trash for 30 days, so check both apps before assuming space is freed.
Which built-in cleaners do ASUS phones have?
- Mobile Manager (Zenfone 10 e-manual (ZenUI)): Settings > Advanced > Mobile Manager. ASUS's integrated optimiser: it closes background processes, manages data usage and suggests unused apps to uninstall to free storage.
- Free up space (Android 14 (Google)): Settings > Storage > Free up space. Google's Android help says some of these steps only work on Android 14 and up.
- Google Photos: Free up space on this device (Google Photos app): Google Photos > profile picture > Free up space on this device. Removes on-phone copies of photos already backed up to your Google Account.
- Files by Google: available on Google Play — ASUS ships its own File Manager app for internal and external storage (per the Zenfone 10 e-manual)..
- Google Photos: Zenfones ship ASUS's own Gallery app alongside Google's apps. Photos backed up with Google Photos can be removed from the phone with Free up space; deleting in Google Photos also deletes the backed-up copy.
What is different about ASUS storage?
- Zenfones save photos to the ASUS Gallery app, which is separate from Google Photos, so a photo deleted in one app may still be backed up or kept in the other.
- Mobile Manager lives under Settings > Advanced, not as a home-screen app, on Zenfone 10.
- Zenfone 9 and 10 shoot 8K at 24 fps; one minute of 8K takes several times the space of 4K.
How long do ASUS phones get updates?
Varies by model; check the model's ASUS support page for its update period.
How do ASUS phones differ on storage and photos?
- Zenfone (4 models, 2021–2024): storage from 128 GB to 512 GB, 0 with microSD, default photos of 12.5 or 16 MP (about 3.8–4.8 MB), and 4 that shoot RAW.
The newest ASUS phone here is the Zenfone 11 Ultra (March 2024), which starts at 256 GB; the oldest is the Zenfone 8 (May 2021). All of them launched on Android 11 or later, so every one has Android's system trash.
