Basics

What is GalleryJury?

GalleryJury is an AI photo cleaner for Android, coming soon to Google Play. It keeps the best shot from every burst, then clears near-identical copies, junk screenshots and forwarded images. Documents are protected, nothing is deleted without your OK, and deleted photos go to Android's trash first. Try 50 photos free, then pay once: $5 for 5,000 photos or $15 for 20,000.

How much space will I get back?

It depends on your gallery. After a scan the app shows the exact figure, Free X GB, before anything is deleted. Your first 50 photos are free, so you can see how it judges your own shots before you pay.

Can I download GalleryJury now?

Not yet. It is coming soon to Google Play for Android. This website will link to the Play Store listing when it is live.

Will GalleryJury be on iPhone?

Later. The app is Android-first; an iPhone version is planned. On iPhone today, the free Photos Duplicates album (iOS 16 and later) is a good start.

Which countries will it launch in?

The US, the UK and Europe first, in English.

What kinds of photos does it remove?

Exact duplicates, lower-res copies (the full-quality original is kept), extra shots from similar bursts, junk or expired screenshots, WhatsApp forwards, memes and greetings, accidental pocket shots, and old reminder photos such as parking spots. Blurry shots and poor shots (too dark, cut off or badly framed) are two optional categories, off by default. Documents and IDs are always kept.

How does it choose the best photo?

An AI judge compares the shots in a group for sharpness, exposure and framing, and keeps the clearest one. You can change the pick before cleaning.

Does it clean videos?

Not at launch. It works on photos and screenshots. Video cleanup is on the roadmap.

Safety and privacy

Is it safe? What if it deletes a photo I wanted?

Nothing is deleted without your OK: you tap Free X GB and confirm in Android's own dialog. IDs and documents, favourites, protected albums and photos from the last 48 hours are always kept. Deleted photos go to Android's trash first.

Are my photos uploaded?

The app sends shrunk copies (512–1024px) to our AI provider for analysis, and our servers delete them right after. Full-size originals stay on your phone, and the scores and decisions are stored on your phone, not on our servers. Location and camera make and model are never sent.

Who analyses my photos?

TypeSafe AI (the Jev model), reached through OpenRouter, in the US, analyses the shrunk photo copies. Vercel hosts the website and API. Supabase holds our database (no photos or scores). Upstash handles rate limiting. Dodo Payments (merchant of record) handles web checkout, and Google Play handles purchases inside the app. See privacy and safety.

Will it delete photos of my passport, driver's license or ID card?

No. Photos and screenshots that look like IDs or documents are protected and always kept, even if you tap Free X GB.

What happens to deleted photos?

Deleted photos go to Android's trash first, the same trash your gallery uses, so you can bring one back if you change your mind.

What permissions does the app need?

Access to your photos (all or selected, your choice on Android 14+), and internet access for the AI check. It does not ask for contacts, location, microphone or video access.

Pricing

How much will it cost?

50 free photos to try. Then a one-time pack: 5,000 photos for $5, or 20,000 photos for $15. Pay once. Nothing renews. No subscription. Prices are in US dollars. In the EU and the UK, VAT is added and shown at checkout before you pay. See pricing.

Why no subscription?

Most people clean their gallery a few times a year. Paying weekly for that is poor value, and auto-renewing trials are a common complaint about cleaner apps. You pay once for a pack, 5,000 photos for $5 or 20,000 for $15, and nothing renews.

Is there a free version?

Your first 50 photos are free to try, with a Google sign-in (one trial per account). After that, $5 buys 5,000 photos and $15 buys 20,000. You pay once, nothing renews, and there is no subscription.

Do I pay per photo removed or per photo scanned?

Per photo scanned. Each photo the AI checks uses one scan, whether it is kept or removed. Re-scanning a photo uses a scan again. Credits never expire. Prices are in US dollars. In the EU and the UK, VAT is added and shown at checkout before you pay.

Which pack should I buy?

Most people need the 5,000-photo pack for $5. If your phone holds more than 5,000 photos, the 20,000-photo pack for $15 covers big libraries at a lower price per photo. Both are paid once, nothing renews, and credits never expire.

Can it help me stop paying for iCloud or Google One?

It can help you need less. Stop paying for extra storage. Pay once instead. GalleryJury clears the junk on your Android phone before it is backed up, so the photos you keep fit in less space. It does not delete anything from Google Photos, iCloud or Google One. See how to stop paying for iCloud storage and Google One storage full.

Google Photos

Can it delete photos from Google Photos?

No. GalleryJury does not connect to Google Photos. It frees space on this phone. If Google Photos backed a photo up, the cloud copy stays in your Google account.

Can it see my Google Photos library?

No. GalleryJury does not ask for Google Photos access. It only looks at photos stored on your phone.

How is this different from Google Photos' Free up space?

Free up space removes phone copies of photos that are already backed up and keeps everything in the cloud. The app removes the junk itself from your phone. Full comparison.

Will it help if my Google One storage is full?

Not directly. GalleryJury frees space on your phone, not in your Google account. Google's own Manage storage tool helps with the cloud, and Gmail and Drive share the same 15 GB. See Google storage full.

WhatsApp

Will it delete my WhatsApp chats?

No. It only removes image files. Chats stay; removed images show as unavailable in the chat.

Will it remove real photos friends sent me on WhatsApp?

No. Photos of people, places and events are kept. Only greetings, quotes, memes and forwards are suggested for removal, and you can review them first.

How do I delete greeting images and forwards all at once?

Free method: WhatsApp > Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage > Forwarded many times. GalleryJury will group greetings, quotes, memes and forwards so you can check them and clear them in one tap; deleted photos go to Android's trash first.

Technical

Which Android versions will it support?

Android 11 and later. Android 11 added the system trash the app uses, so deleted photos go to Android's trash first.

Does it work without internet?

The AI check needs internet. Finding exact copies, reviewing results and restoring removed photos work offline.

How much mobile data does a scan use?

Only shrunk copies (512–1024px) are sent, so far less than the photos' full size. Scans use Wi-Fi only unless you turn on mobile data in Settings.
